Yet
in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am
persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor
powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans
8:37-39 |

A time is
coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come
out--those who have done good will rise to live and those who have done evil
will rise to be condemned
John 5:28

Interesting...a
day is coming when every one will hear His voice. A day is coming when all
the other voices will be silenced; all those other voices that have guided
and directed so many lives will be heard no longer. His voice--and His
voice only--will be heard. Some will hear His voice for the very first time.
It's not that He never spoke, it's just that they never listened. For these,
God's voice will be the voice of a stranger. They will hear it once--and
never hear it again. They will spend eternity in Hell fending off the
voices they followed on earth. But others will be called from their graves
by a familiar voice. For they are sheep who know their Shepherd. Who have
heard His voice countless times before. Who have followed His voice, His
commands, His path. They are the servants who opened the door when Jesus
knocked. |

Never Quit
Quitting now makes it
easy to quit later. Not sure who said that, but it's true! You shouldn't
quit because the next time you're in a situation that is difficult, quitting
will seem like an easy way out. Quitting sets a mental precedent, making it
easier to stop the next time. It's a mentality you can't afford if you want
to compete well. On one occasion, Jesus was so exasperated that
He sounded 'close' to quitting. The disciples had been given authority to
heal, however, this one little boy they couldn't (or didn't for lack of
faith) heal. There was an ensuing argument between the disciples and some
religious officials. Here comes Jesus. The boy's father begs Jesus to heal
his son. In the midst of all the confusion, Jesus (and one can just hear the
anger) states aloud: 'You faithless generation, how long will I have to be
with you before you believe? Bring the boy to me.' Jesus rebuked the demon
in the boy and it left him. I can just see Jesus rolling His eyes, but still
smiling, warmly. Jesus never quit. No matter how desperate you feel,
press on. Sometimes spouses, kids, co-workers or others will disappoint you,
anger you, even infuriate you; you may even blow you cool a bit or say words
that you didn't intend. But don't quit. If Jesus taught us anything, it's to
maintain hope and not quit. |

Can You Feel
The Tug
There is a story about a boy flying a
kite. The kite was flying so high that it had disappeared into the clouds. A
man came by and asked the boy, 'What are you doing, son, holding on to that
string?' The boy smiled and replied, 'Sir, I am flying a kite!' The
man looked up once, then looked again, and said, 'I don't see it up there.'
The boy quickly replied, 'Well, Sir, I know it's up there because I can feel
the tug. This is like the witness of the Holy Spirit within us. We may not
be able to see it, or always see the evidence of it, but we can feel the tug
in our hearts constantly, letting us know that we are in touch with God. |
